Fun Activities Located in Walt Disney World Hotels
The Walt Disney World Resort is a host to over 25 hotels on property with a plethora of activities for both resort and non-resort guests to enjoy. Here is a sampling of the special activities that you can find at the various Walt Disney World Resort hotels.
Disney’s Boardwalk Inn
Disney’s Boardwalk, a quarter of a mile long promenade reminiscent of an early 1900’s seaside village, has a variety of activities for anyone to enjoy! Patrons can rent surrey bikes, ride around Crescent Lake, and take in a beautiful tour of the Epcot Resort area. There are also midway-type carnival games, a caricature artist, hair wrappers, and on select nights, guests will find street performers (typically street performers are out in the evenings Thursdays – Saturdays).
For guests 21+, Atlantic Dance Hall opens its doors from 9:00pm – 2:00am Tuesday through Saturday evenings for dancing with a DJ playing hits from the 80s, 90s, and today (sometimes this venue is used for special events and is closed to the public)! Just a few steps away is Jeyllrolls, the rowdy dueling piano which opens at 7:00PM with non-stop live entertainment from 8:00PM to 2:00AM (there is a cover charge here). Finally, there is the AbracadaBar, a mysterious lounge with tasty cocktails and fun décor (be sure to find the mystical mirror).
Disney’s Polynesian Village
Take a trip to the islands with the Spirit of Aloha luau at Disney’s Polynesian Village. Dine on an all-you-care-to-enjoy tropical feast amongst hula dancing, drummers, fire dancing, and more. All are invited, but reservations are highly recommended and can be made 180 days in advance.
Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is a hideaway tiki bar with fun drinks and tasty bites! Patrons can choose to sit in the indoor themed lounge with exotic décor or the open-air Tiki Terrace complete with Hawaiian-themed music and a view of the Seven Seas Lagoon. The whole family can enjoy this establishment prior to 8:00pm. After 8:00pm only guests 21+ may visit.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Take in afternoon tea at the lovely Garden View Tea Room. The menu includes a selection of international teas and an assortment of sandwiches and pastries. Tip: Be sure to get the strawberries in cream dessert. It is delectable.
After tea, listen to the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra play jazz standards and Disney favorites in the grand lobby. They perform daily in the late afternoon through the evening. For exact times, check My Disney Experience.
Both children and adults can get character makeovers at Ivy Trellis Salon with their Character Couture Packages! The salon is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and appointments are strongly recommended. To make a reservation, please call (407) WDW-SPAS or (407) 939-7727 or contact your travel agent.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Fans of watersports will have a great time checking out Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre. From parasailing or renting personal watercrafts to tubing, water skiing and wakeboarding, there is plenty of fun for the entire family!
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campgrounds
Fort Wilderness has a variety of activities, and guests do not have to stay inside of the campgrounds to partake in the fun! Tri-Circle-D Ranch is home to Cinderella’s horses and more! Animal lovers will enjoy exploring the stables. For a fee, guests can also go horseback riding, take a romantic carriage ride or ride with a large group in a horse-drawn wagon. Our little guests can have fun with pony rides. During the holidays, “sleigh rides” are offered (a festive horse-drawn carriage ride).
After dark, cozy up to a crackling fire with Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long. While the campfire is free, s’mores kits can be purchased (or guests are welcome to bring their own)!
The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue is a dinner show that is fun for the entire family with an all-you-can-eat BBQ feast and feet-stompin’ entertainment. Typically there are three dinner shows each evening with different seat categories from which to choose. Advanced reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made 180 days in advance.
For those looking for a BBQ meal with a little more ‘character,’ Mickey’s Backyard BBQ is a dinner feast with a live Country-Western band and Disney friends. Guests will be able to dance the night way with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Chip ‘n Dale (character appearances are subject to change). Guests will have the chance for photos and autographs with the characters, too!
Port Orleans Riverside
Port Orleans Riverside transports guests to a Louisiana-style plantation. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride along the Sassagoula River and the beautiful grounds of Port Orleans.
Guests looking for some live entertainment can check out Yehaa Bob and his fun musical antics at the River Roost lounge.
Port Orleans French Quarter
One word. Beignets. Mickey-shaped. They can be found at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory. Adults 21+ can enjoy boozy beignets at Scat Cat’s Club while they listen to live music. These Baton Rouge Beignets come in a serving size of three with a choice of Baileys, Kahlúa, or RumChata.
Sense’s Spa
Everyone deserves a little pampering. Sense’s Spa is a full-service spa with a variety of offerings ranging from massages to manicures. There are two locations: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. For a review of my experience at Sense’s Spa of Saratoga Springs, click here.
Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf is located at the Walt Disney World Swan hotel. Fantasia Gardens is a whimsical course that is themed to the animated classic, Fantasia. Fairways Miniature Golf is a bit more challenging of a course that replicates a traditional golf course on a smaller scale. TIP: Both have lower crowds during the day but get busier during the evening hours.
