Ultimate Guide to Star Wars Launch Bay
While Star Wars fans are waiting for Star Wars Land (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge) to open, why not go to Hollywood Studios and visit Star Wars Launch Bay located at the back of the Animation Courtyard? Star Wars fans of all ages can see behind-the-scenes action, explore film memorabilia, and meet some of their favorite Star Wars characters. If you’re considering visiting Star Wars Launch Bay (I highly recommend it!), read on as I guide you through each section!
Upon entering the Star Wars Launch Bay queue, you can choose to go left or right. To the left is the Launch Bay Theater and to the right you’ll find exhibits, character meet and greets, and merchandise shops. In the busy months of the year there could be a long wait time, but every time I have visited I was able to walk right into the building. Depending on when the show times are for Launch Bay Theater will determine how long you must wait outside in the queue line. However, if you do happen to get stuck in the queue for a while, there are fans overhead and pictures from the various Star Wars films to look at while you wait. Now let’s discuss what happens beyond the queue line!
To the left side at the Launch Bay Theater, you’ll take your seats and watch a behind-the-scenes video about how the Star Wars films were mde. The video is approximately 10 minutes long and runs multiple times throughout each day. This video includes interviews with the film crew, as well as Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. You’ll learn all about one of the most popular film series in history. There is also a preview for the highly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edged from Imagineer Scott Trowbridge.
Towards the right side is where you can shop, walk through exhibits, and meet various Star Wars characters. You’ll be able to view museum-like exhibits that contain costumes, models, and replicas of props from the films. Under each item there is a plaque stating the name of the item and some information about it. Make sure to take your time and look at all the displays because they’re very cool to look at.
Once you’ve made it through the exhibits, you’ll enter the area for character meet and greets. Each character has their own queue area with more memorabilia to look at while you’re in line. If you go down the stairs there are queues to meet Chewbacca and Kylo Ren and if you go to your right, you’ll find the queue for BB-8. Whether you choose to visit one, two, or all three it’s a cool experience for any Star Wars fan.
To your right after the BB-8 meet and greet queue you’ll come upon Launch Bay Cargo, which is the place to shop for all your favorite Star Wars items. Here you can take home life-size sculptures, artwork, phone cases, and of course lightsabers.
May the Force be with you during your next visit to Walt Disney World. I hope you’re able to enjoy Star Wars Launch Bay and everything else Hollywood Studios has to offer!

Hello Disney Fans! Janie here. I was a Disney kid growing up and now that I am an adult I love it even more. Whether its movies, music, parks, or games I just can’t get enough of it. I visit Disney World at least twice a year and even when I’m not there it’s all I can think about! My favorite part about Disney is how it brings out the inner child in everyone and I hope that by sharing my love of Disney I’ll be inspiring others to visit and take part in the Disney magic!
