5 Reasons Why We’ll Miss “a bug’s land” When It Closes This Fall
For those that may not have heard, Disney announced earlier this year plans to close the ‘a bug’s land’ section of Disneyland California Adventure Park to make way for a brand new Marvel-themed area. This whimsical land will close its gates to guests beginning on September 4th. Before we bid Flik and friends adieu, we thought we’d share five of the things we’ll miss the most about “a bugs land”
1. The Chance to Shrink Down to the Size of a Bug – One of our favorite things about “a bug’s land” is the incredible Imagineering that went into this area of the park. The perspective makes you feel like you are the size of Flik and his ant friends. From giant garden hoses to Chinese takeaway boxes, everything you encounter encourages you to see the world in unique and interesting ways.
2. Incredible Details – Hidden around every corner of “a bug’s land” is something fun to see-do-and explore. For example, if you look closely enough you may see a few of Fliks friends hidden around the area. See if you can find Slim, Rosie and Manny if you’re paying a final visit!
3. Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train – Though most of the rides in “a bug’s land” are known for their kid appeal, this is one attraction that has won over kids of all ages. Hop on the back of this loveable Bavarian caterpillar who takes you on a smell-icious journey literally through some of his favorite foods! Along with It’s Tough To Be a Bug which closed its door earlier this year, this is a much-loved attraction that we’ll be sad to see go.
4. Princess Dot Puddle Park – For families with children under the age of five, this was THE place to cool off at Disney California Adventure. This “a bug’s land” water play provides plenty of opportunities for kids to dance through mists, sprinkles and fountains when Anaheim temperatures start to soar. One of our favorite details here are the incredible lights made out of fireflies. This is another area we’ll be said to see go!
5. Fun Carnival-style Rides for Tiny Tots – For those visiting Disney California Adventure with tiny tots, “a bug’s land” is the perfect playground providing lots of simple carnival-style rides perfect for kids who may be frightened by some of the theme parks larger attractions. Whether it’s soaring through the sky on Flik’s Flyers, dancing along on Francis’ Ladybug Boogie, or trying out bumper cars for the first time at Tuck and Roll’s Drive ‘Em Buggies, this self-contained area was the perfect spot for parents to relax while kids had some pint-sized fun.
It’s hard to think of “a bug’s land” in the past tense, but for a few more weeks you won’t have to! If you’re debating on taking a last minute Summer visit to Disneyland then take the plunge and pay one last visit to Flik and his lovely gang of insect friends.

I miss A Bug’s Land already! But I still think we can meet Flik at Pixar Pier.
