Why You Should Splurge on a Disney Deluxe Resort

Never stayed at a Disney deluxe resort? Ever wonder if they were worth the price? Here are the reasons why I think deluxe resorts are totally worth the splurge.
Location, location, location
Deluxe resorts are located on the most prime real estate on property. Some are even close enough to walk to the parks. The Contemporary Resort for example has a walking path right to the Magic Kingdom. After a long day at the park, being able to walk back to your room in less than 10 minutes is definitely worth the price!
The Yacht Club, Beach Club and Boardwalk resorts allow you to walk to Epcot and enter through the international gateway. Not only do you get to the parks quickly, you get to bypass the much more crowded main entrance to Epcot. Being so close to the parks can cut down time you spend waiting on transportation and save you valuable park time.
A Disney Deluxe Resort also offer the most transportation options. You have the choice of bus, boat and sometimes monorail to travel to and from the parks and Disney Springs. The Grand Floridian is just one monorail stop from the Magic Kingdom, making it super easy to run over just in time to catch the Happily Ever After fireworks.
Or you can take the monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center and then on to Epcot for Illuminations. Not only are the additional transportation options convenient, they can even add an extra level of fun for your kids by changing up the pace from the traditional bus system.
Location also has perks outside of getting around on property. Since many resorts are so close to the parks you can even view the fireworks without ever having to leave your resort! Grab a dole whip and head to the beach at the Polynesian Resort and you will have a great view of the Magic Kingdom.
Shopping, Spas, Boats, oh my!
All Disney resorts provide amazing amenities and unparalleled service but there are some perks and amenities you just can’t get anywhere else on property. A Disney Deluxe resort will feature the largest rooms on property. Rooms that are more spacious can accommodate larger families and give everyone more room to get comfortable. It also gives you plenty of space for all those mickey ears and t-shirts you have collected while on vacation!
Don’t feel like hitting a park one day? No problem! There are tons of recreation options at deluxe resorts. Deluxe resorts have the most luxurious pools on property. One of the best is Stormalong Bay at the Yacht and Beach Club featuring a 3-acre pool paradise complete with water slides and a sand bottom swimming pool !
There are also a ton of water sports options available at Disney deluxe resorts. You can rent boats or personal watercraft and drive around Seven Seas Lagoon or even go tubing or wakeboarding with your family. Have some adventure seekers in your crew? Try parasailing on Bay Lake at the Contemporary Resort!
Looking to burn off some calories from all those dole whips? Deluxe resorts feature well-appointed fitness centers so you can get in a good work out while on vacation. You can even get in a tennis match at these resorts.
If relaxation is more your vacation speed, you can get pampered at one of the spa or salon facilities at select deluxe resorts. There is nothing like spending the afternoon getting a manicure and pedicure or massage to recharge you for another day in the parks.
If shopping is on your vacation agenda, there is no better place than at a Disney deluxe resort. They provide the best gift shops and other upscale boutique shopping not available at other resorts. Stop by Basin White at the Grand Floridian for some pampering bath and body products for yourself or a gift for someone back home.
With all the great recreation options you could spend your entire vacation just at your resort!
Food is half the fun
Let’s face it – one of the best things about a Disney vacation is the food. Whether it is a Mickey-shaped ice cream bar poolside or a decadent 5-course dinner at Victoria & Albert’s, Disney has something for everyone. This is never truer than at the deluxe resorts.
Deluxe resorts provide the most dining options of any resorts on property. Looking for a quick bite before heading to the parks? You can stop by the quick service restaurant. If you are in the mood for something sit-down but not too fancy you can check out one of the great table service options.
However, the best option, in my opinion, are the amazing Disney Signature restaurants at the deluxe resorts. These restaurants feature world-renowned chefs and unbeatable cuisine. The restaurants are just as varied as the resorts too. Try African cuisine on the savanna at Jiko, located at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Or grab some sushi and a steak while watching the fireworks from the top of the Contemporary Resort at California Grill. Disney Signature restaurants truly are the best of the best so what could be better than having them right at your resort?
Staying at a deluxe resort allows you to have every type of dining experience at your fingertips. You will find the right option for your family, no matter where your day may take you.
Deluxe…the name says it all
Let’s also not forget these resorts are just plain beautiful! The grounds are impeccably groomed and the theming is top notch. Deluxe resorts are a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of Walt Disney World. Arriving back to your resort after a long park day and being able to relax on your patio or balcony is truly incredible.
While each deluxe resort has its own perks, amenities, and style they all provide the comforts, conveniences, and service that only Disney can and, in my opinion, are definitely worth experiencing.
