What’s New at the Disney Store?
There is always new merchandise at the Disney Store, and on my most recent visit, the entire store was brimming with new items that I hadn’t yet seen in-store- or even online! New items ranging in subject from summer wear to summer blockbuster; my local Disney Store has certainly prepared for the influx of newly announced merchandise that is already gracing the shelves. After I got over the initial shock of seeing brand-new Incredibles 2 merch that hasn’t even been released online yet, I was able to gather myself enough to take a walk through the rest of the store to see what was new. The results were shocking- in the best, most exciting of ways!
Summer is in the air, and just days after members of the shopdisney.com mailing list got a preview of the summers’ adorable new Little Mermaid themed pool merchandise, the items hit the shelves in all their glory! The line by Oh My Disney offers something for every pool owner this summer and from floats to koozies, you’ll be the neighbor with the cool pool when you throw your first bash this summer.
Accessories are nothing without a great outfit, and the brightly colored new summer collection will pair perfectly with one of those Flounder pool floats!
Moving through the store, the massive display promoting Avengers: Infinity War was the second ‘new’ display that popped up almost overnight. Pop! Vinyls in the likeness Captain America, Groot, and Iron Man have gained a lot of traction in the toy world and have been regularly sold-out in Disney Stores nationwide. I was surprised and delighted to see that my Disney Store had some in stock!
I popped into the Disney Store to purchase the Mr. and Mrs. Incredible Toybox action figures and was at first met with disappointment that quickly turned to interest that quickly turned to excitement! The toybox figures, I’ve learned, are in stock, but not for sale as they apparently contain a ‘spoiler’ for the upcoming film, The Incredibles 2. I then learned that the display I was looking at had only been approved that day as some items here could also potentially ‘spoil’ a plot point. What do you think the spoiler is here?
After what seems like 146 re shoots and 342 cast and creative team changes, Solo: A Star Wars Story is officially set to be released this year, and with it, new merchandise! I’m really hoping Chewbacca will play a wookie-sized role in the film- I love that furry guy- and when my eyes hit the backpack and drinking container display, it only fueled my excitement that a potentially wookie-heavy film is coming our way.
After the shock wore off from being surrounded by all of these new, unexpected pieces, I headed to the register to check out when I saw yet another new item! The figure playsets have been completely re-done since my last visit (which wasn’t long ago!). Rapunzel and Pocahontas were given the boot from The Princess Playset and have been replaced with Mulan and Tiana. Ariel traded her tail for a dress, and a very sparkly Cinderella, Aurora, and Snow White have replaced Mereda and Belle. The Little Mermaid Figure Playset has switched the scene from underwater to dry land and now features Ariel and Eric in their wedding-day attire.
I’m so excited about all of these new offerings and can’t wait to check back soon for the elusive Incredibles figures. What do you think of the new merchandise? What summer accessory is a must-have? Are you planning to stock up on Solo merch, or are you more of a Marvel film fan? Let me know in the comments and let’s start a conversation!
