Celebrate National Margarita Day in Disney
I love finding little ways to celebrate national holidays at the Walt Disney World Resort, especially when the holiday is dedicated to the most crowd pleasing beverages of them all. They’re on every bar menu, can be served frozen, shaken, or on the rocks, and come with your choice of sugar or salt rims. That’s right, February 22 is all about that south-of-the-border created beverage the world has grown to love: the margarita.
Like I said, pretty much every bar menu features at least one margarita, but many of the bars at WDW have a laundry list of the nationally recognized drinks. Not only that, but given the amount of bars and bar/restaurants around Disney Resort property, and the question of where to go combined with the question of which to choose will make your eyes roll back in your head…and that’s before you’ve even had one sip! So, to ensure you’re going to get a great marg in a great setting this National Margarita Day, read on!
Paradiso 37
Known for live music, its open air patio, island inspired eats, and a true ‘vacation’ atmosphere, it wouldn’t be right to leave Paradiso 37 off the list. Paradiso 37 is one of those places you can visit on every Disney trip and you’ll still never be able to try all of the drinks on their menu! I have a few favorites, but since this article is all about the margarita, you’ve got to go for the Orlando Sunrise.
It’s a simple mix of Orange Juice and orange flavored liquor. Oh, and some tequila too. Last time I visited I ordered one of these, and the warm breeze from the water mixed with the sweetness of the cocktail sent me into tropical paradise overload. If you want to remember your waterfront-sipping extravaganza, you can order the drink in a souvenir glass.
Stick around Disney Springs for a second drink, and you’ll again be plighted by the question of ‘where should I go?’. Dockside Margaritas’ name gives it away, so I won’t bother giving you a rundown of what this little kiosk is serving up. As you can imagine, there is a very, very long list of tequila-laden drinks to choose from on the menu. Any drink on the menu would be fitting for national margarita day, but my recommendation is a classic Strawberry Margarita. The color of the drink accompanied by a green lime wedge don’t immediately scream “STRAWBERRY”, but as soon as you take the first sip, you’ll be hit with a very strawberry-forward drink.
Boardwalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas- Disney’s Boardwalk
It’s hard to beat a classic. Disney’s Boardwalk is home to so many classically famous, turn-of-the-century-style shops and restaurants, you can easily spend a day and not have seen and done everything the Resort has to offer. Speaking of classics, Boardwalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas kiosk on Disney’s Boardwalk serves the best classic margarita I’ve had at Walt Disney World. The combo of Jose Cuervo gold, Grand Marnier, lime, and sweet and sour mix is the quintessential classic margarita combo begging to be sipped slowly as you stroll around the Boardwalk. You can get it served on the rocks or frozen.
Choza de Margarita- Epcot
Finally, I’ve saved the newest spot for last. Choza de Margarita opened just a few months ago, just in time to work out the kinks for national margarita day! This new outdoor hot spot is located at the foot of the Aztec pyramid in the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot, and it’s throwing down some pretty serious margaritas. The forecast for the holiday is calling for heat, so a frozen margarita is the way to go! They have three on the menu (wild strawberry, lime, and passion mango) and when I visited, I couldn’t pick just one! Lucky for us, Choza de Margarita offers a Fiesta marg that combines all three of the frozen flavors! As if the presentation weren’t pretty enough, sip it as you stroll around World Showcase for gorgeous views as you celebrate the most important holiday of the year…national margarita day! Have you tried any of these featured margaritas? Which is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below!
