3 Signs You’re a Disney Grinch
Maybe you’ve heard it said that there are two types of people in the world, those who do Disney Parks and those who don’t. I think there’s also a third group of people, those who reluctantly do Disney Parks but still haven’t seen their little Disney heart grow 3 sizes yet.
Here are 3 Disney Grinch warning signs and some hints on how to see those green hearts grow
1. Disney is too big!
If you’ve heard this talking point coming from someone you love before/during/after their trip to the Magic Kingdom, then you might know a Disney Park Grinch. Yes, the Magic Kingdom is large and because of the truth in that statement some people can just not see past that. However, you can help diminish this excuse in a couple key ways. Take the burden of planning off of this persons to do list. In my experience, the best way to simplify the experience and shrink down the largeness of the magical experience is to connect with a Disney travel planner from MickeyTravels. But for those dedicated to self-planning, Disney has excellent websites and mobile apps.
*Bonus points if you get this Disney Parks Grinch to Disneyland. The west coast Disney Park is perfect for anyone who likes their Disney vacation walking sized.
2. Disney is too expensive!
The family budget is real and Disney costs money. A good family suggestion overall is to have a monthly budget and the same goes for Disney. Make a Disney budget. It actually is so much easier and faster saving money for Disney than anything else I’ve ever saved money for. My family buys Disney gift cards once a month. And it’s usually pretty modest amounts – $25 to $75 bucks. But we do it monthly and we stash them in a drawer.
Our hope is to go to Disney once a year, so we usually have about $500 in gift cards when we go, which is clutch for buying meals or gifts with money that isn’t coming out of the bank account. We plan our trips for non-peak seasons in order to avoid high plane ticket prices and peak hotel prices. We love staying on Disney property but other hotels at similar prices are available. Just don’t assume a non-Disney hotel will automatically be a better deal than the Disney ones! Keep reading to see why.
3. Disney is just like everywhere else!
Sure, there are some awesome non-Disney places to take your family and not every trip needs to be all about the mouse. However, I know first-hand how magical Disney is when it comes to all their theme parks, family fun and making memories. Your senses are drawn to the theming and the imagination. Nowhere else adds so much value! When you book lodging at a Disney property hotel you get so much more than a room! Disney rolls out great perks to their guests!
- Parks will stay open extra hours every day just for Disney hotel guests like you.
- First chance to reserve the most memorable character dining times six months in advance.
- Reserving FastPasses (line-skipping perk) for the most in demand rides 2 months out.
- Free bus transportation from the Orlando airport to the Magic Kingdom and free bus rides, boat rides and monorail rides to help you get to and from the Disney World Parks.
- Pre-paying for meals, snacks and alcohol with a Dining Plan that includes character meals!
- Easy transfer of your in-park purchases to your hotel room – so no carrying bags all day!
- MAGIC BANDS!! The coolest room key, park ticket, pay option ever invented!
So, unless someone you know really is just green, furry and lives in a cold mountain cave then I believe there is hope for their heart to grow and for them to have the strength of 10 Grinches + 2 when the next Disney Park trip time comes around!
