Colossal Snacks, Disney Parks Edition- Part 2
We are back with the second in this 4-park series of articles and this time, we’ve got the low down on some sizeable snacks from a different theme park. If you’re just joining this four-park tour, you should first read this [insert link to article on MK gigantic snacks] to ensure you won’t miss out on any big bites of deliciousness. If you’re all caught up, I’m impressed that you’ve digested those mammoth snacks and are already back for more!
Epcot
Let’s be blunt: Epcot has got the eats. The World Showcase is practically a foodie paradise, featuring restaurants and cuisines from far off lands begging to be tasted by world travelers. The cuisine in each of the Pavilions mirrors the types of foods you would find if you were to really travel to China, Morocco, and all the other countries represented. But every dollar- and snack credit- counts at Disney, and the thought of feeding a family for just one day at the parks makes me tighten my grip on my wallet. To get the most out of your investment, try these colossal snacks that are not only big in size, but big in flavor! Bring a buddy along for this snack tour because I have a feeling you’re going to need help finishing some of these treats!
Future World
I know, I know, I just spent the first part of this article talking about the amazing snacks you can find around World Showcase, but it would be unfair to exclude Future World from the list! They are holding their own in terms of big snacks, and Sunshine Seasons is a great place to begin our giant sized snack tour!
You’ve got to try this cinnamon roll from Sunshine Seasons. The layers of sticky cinnamon sugar are swirled throughout the pastry giving it that delicious, classic cinnamon roll flavor you’ll expect. What I didn’t expect when I first ordered the pastry was its size! The roll certainly fits into our ‘colossal’ category, just look at it…it fills up the entire plate!
Bring Your Appetites, World Travelers!
Norway
After a morning of high-octane attractions in Future World, World Showcase is finally open and ready to welcome world travelers! Head to Norway first for a mid-morning pick me up. The School Bread is a famous Disney snack- you’ll find it at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe. The School Bread is slightly sweet dough that is rolled in coconut, baked, and finished with a big helping of vanilla custard filling! Definitely grab a knife and fork for this one, the custard is abundant and gets messy- but worth the sticky fingers!
The Middle Country Cure
When I hit the ‘middle countries’ as I like to call them, it always feels like I’ve been walking forever and can’t possibly make it all the way around the world. Luckily, the Germany Pavilion is located right in that middle zone, making it my go to for when I’m hot, tired, and in need of a big pick me up.
Sorry Mickey pretzels, these pretzels not only have you beat in size, but they crush you in flavor too. The giant pretzels are nice and crisp on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. If you order one of these on its own you’ve made a mistake because these bad boys are begging to be perfectly paired with a pint.
Bring it Home
Germany
At this point, I’m sure you’re used to walking by the carts vending the traditionally sized Mickey Pretzels…but the soft pretzels they’re selling in Germany are anything but traditionally sized. These pretzels are huge. They are size-of-your-head-huge. Here it is plated next to a brat so you can appreciate its sheer magnitude.
After a long day spent walking in the hot Florida sunshine and the prospect of another jam packed Disney day on the horizon tomorrow, I find myself daydreaming about one place: home. Before you head to your Disney Resort home, slowly ease your way back into the American mindset with one last snack stop at the American Adventure. Here you’ll find gargantuan funnel cakes fresh fried and dusted in powdered sugar.
I like them because they somehow maintain a soft and chewy texture despite the frying, something funnel cakes never seem to accomplish. There are options here too! If you’re feeling adventurous, add a slab of ice cream and strawberry topping to your funnel cake, and depending on when you visit, chances are there will be a featured seasonal funnel cake on the menu too! The funnel cake not only fills the plate its served on, it’s so large that the edges hang off the plate, so bring along a group to share this enormous snack with!
The BIG Finish
That just about wraps up part 2 of the colossal snackdown: Epcot edition. I’ve taken one for the team and done the really tedious and trying task of sampling these snacks (I know, poor me), and I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed with their size or flavor, no matter which you choose on your next Disney vacation! So, which of these snacks will you pick up next time you’re in Epcot?
