The Best Disney Super Bowl Foods
In just a few days football fans nationwide will have their day in the sun when the Eagles and Patriots each look to bring home a Super Bowl LII win. Watching all of the nail biting, adrenaline jarring plays time and time again can leave you longing for some football food that will keep you going through four quarters of play, a big halftime show, and trophy presentation. When it’s all written out like that, I understand why food is such a big part of the Super Bowl…this is one long event!
If you’ll be spending February 4 at Walt Disney World Resort, there are plenty of great places for you to catch the game, and even more places to fill up on fantastic game day grub. Weather you’re planning to watch the game or not, the day of the Super Bowl is all about the food, and Walt Disney World Resort has plenty of options for you to choose from when it comes to football food, but which snacks are the best of the best?
Classic Game Day Grub
Walt Disney World Resort has no shortage of snack options catered to satisfy every palette in your group, Super Bowl eats included. D Luxe Burger at Disney Springs has one of the best burgers on Disney property! The classic burgers are always cooked perfectly- a bit pink in the middle- and are served with endless sauce options and a heap of toppings. Burgers are the perfect game day food, and these bad boys from D-Luxe are begging to be bitten during a football game. The fries from D-Luxe Burger are darn good too; hand cut and served hot!
Football and nachos = a match made in heaven. If you’re invited to a Super Bowl party and there aren’t nachos…you weren’t really invited to a proper Super Bowl party. The Smokehouse at Disney Springs is serving up their famous Smokehouse Nachos.
The big stack of salty tortilla chips comes loaded with toppings like avocado crema, jalapenos, pico de gallo, cilantro, and home made cheese sauce. These nachos are served in a big portion making them perfect to share with your game day team. Plus, if you share, you can order more than one plate!
Fried food and football go together like football and fried food. There isn’t a better pairing, and I for one am not about to stray from tradition on Super Bowl Sunday so I’ll be sticking with the be all end of all fried foods… fries! In fact, I know just the spot I’ll be hitting up if I wind up at Disney Springs: The Daily Poutine.
Thick cut French fries are piled into a bowl and then smothered in your choice of toppings. I don’t know how any option on the menu can be anything less than fantastic, but my favorite is cheese curd/beef gravy option. The menu rotates, but you can always find this go-to no matter the season. Oh, one word of warning, you’ll need a fork!
In the Parks for the Game? No Problem!
If you’re going to be in the parks during the Super Bowl…I really can’t blame you, you’re at Walt Disney World to go to the parks after all! Just because you won’t be watching the game you are certainly entitled to partake in some traditional Super Bowl party food. Here is your best bet for celebrating the big game inside the parks:
Although billed as baseball fare, the food at Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom is equally as suited for football! The foot long dogs served here are enormous and can be ordered plain or with toppings of your choice! For a combo of two game day food favorites, go for the macaroni and cheese footlong! It’s just as over-the-top and sinfully delicious as it sounds, and the Super Bowl gives you a great reason justify this indulgence. If you need more convincing, the fries at Casey’s are my favorite in all of WDW. The potatoes are cut to the thickness of matchsticks allowing for perfectly proportioned fries that maintain a potato-y middle with crisp, salty outsides.
Game: Eagles vs. Patriots
Food: Philly vs New England
I just couldn’t resist including team specific eats. If you hail from New England and can’t imagine watching a Pats game without lobster, Disney has got you covered. Go to the Boathouse at Disney Springs for your Super Bowl lobster quota. The whole Maine lobster will make you feel as though you’re watching your team play a home game in Foxborough, and if you add a side of the hand cut fries, you’ll be set all the way through to the final whistle.
Ok Philly fans, it’s your turn! Though I’ve relocated, I’m a Pennsylvania girl born and raised and have visited Philly countless times in my life, which is why I can confidently state the following: you’ve just got to have a cheese steak for an Eagles game! For the complete Super Bowl experience complete with a showing of the game, crazy fans, and as good a cheese steak you’ll find outside the Philly border, go to ESPN at Disney’s Boardwalk! If you choose to cheer for the Eagles here, make sure you arrive early, and be prepared for loud fans! The ESPN Club will surely be crowded on gameday, but it’s the best place to go to watch the Eagles with a cheese steak in hand…fly Eagles, fly! So, which team, or should I say, which foods, will you go for on game day? Let us know in the comments!
