Tasty Treat Tuesday – Night Blossom
Welcome back to Tasty Treat Tuesday here at MickeyBlog.com!
We all know that Walt Disney World is known for its iconic eats – popcorn, pretzels, ice cream and even Mickey waffles. HOWEVER – did you know that the theme parks are about SO much more than those classic well-loved treats? Each week, I’m ready to show you a unique tasty treat and where to find it on your next Disney vacation!
So, come join me on this weekly journey to find your new favorites! It’s time to create a new tradition!
Tasty Treat: Night Blossom
In May 2017, Disney opened its new land, Pandora – The World of AVATAR at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. This much anticipated expansion to Animal Kingdom initially brought mixed feelings for those fans (like me) of the “Beastly Kingdom” plans which were originally slated to be included in phase II of Disney’s plans for Animal Kingdom. Although “Beastly Kingdom” never materialized, the addition of Pandora – The World of AVATAR has been a refreshing addition to this theme park, artfully blending fantasy, magic, nature, and animals seamlessly into this already picturesque theme park.
So, when Pandora opened – we all raced to the attractions. Flight of Passage anyone? But did you know that there are other-worldly treats available in Pandora that are worth exploring, too? Join us for our newest Tasty Treat – the Night Blossom!
What is it?
A “bioluminescent” non-alcoholic cocktail of limeade with apple and desert pear flavors topped with passion fruit boba balls.
Why try it?
In a land like Pandora – The World of AVATAR, the treats must be out-of-this world amazing. The Night Blossom, with its layers of purple and green topped with orange boba is beautiful in appearance. While I was taking the photo of the drink for my blog post, guests would walk up and ask me “where did that come from”? Some even took pictures of the drink, too! (And some even took pictures of me taking a picture of the drink – which felt so strange!) It is definitely Instagram worthy and you feel like a rock star walking through Pandora with this crazy bright colored drink that looks like it was plucked from one of those gorgeous blue flowers blooming throughout the land.
But does it taste good? I will say … Yes! Not only does it look good, but it tastes good, too. Those with a sweet tooth will find this more pleasing to the palate than others who prefer more natural flavors. The flavors reminded me of eating a handful of liquid Sweet Tarts. The apple is slightly sour and mimics a green apple Jolly Rancher in flavor. And the dessert pear was sweet and subtle, a nice balance to the more potent apple. Finally those popping passion fruit boba add a nice punch of citrus in the mouth. They are also fun to eat on their own! Adults and kids will love them!
Where can I find it?
The Night Blossom is located at a small snack station called Pongu Pongu just outside the exit of Flight of Passage and adjacent to Pandora’s gift shop – Windtraders. After exiting Windtraders, take a sharp left and you will find this refreshment post. Pongu Pongu means “Party Party” in Na’vi and everything offered at this location definitely fits the description with “bioluminescent” drinks, indigenous beers, and out-of-this-world snacks.
