Disney Infinity fans, dust off your Toybox!
Disney Infinity fans can rejoice once again! Although the extremely popular, longcanceled game is not coming back anytime in the near future, the Disney Store is giving fans of the game something to get excited about.
Disney Store recently released the brand new Toybox series of action figures. The figures are modeled after the Disney Infinity statues. The Toybox action figures stand about 5” tall and look exactly like their Infinity predecessors. The major difference with the Toybox figures is…. they’re poseable! The figures from the Infinity game were so artistically and aesthetically well done, and the design elements from the features, motion capture poses, and matte finish made them visually appealing, but at the end of the day they were simply statues. Now, the Toybox series of action figures gives fans all of those fantastic design elements, but with incredible articulation!
I stopped into my local Disney Store to pick up the figures on their release day and was delighted to find just how much they can move. They are definitely meant to be played with, as you can finagle each figure into countless different poses. I took photos of my figures to show a few of the different poses they can be set to.
Articulation
If you’re purchasing these for a child, know that their imaginations will be able to run wild with these figures, as I don’t believe there is a limit to how much they can articulate!
Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel, oh my!
The first wave releases includes 9 figures, 3 each from Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel. There are 10 known figures – 9 of which have been released thus far. There are 10 more figures still to come in this series.
Star Wars
The Star Wars series is my personal favorite, as I find they have the most detail and the coolest accessories. I mean, Kylo Ren’s lightsaber is textured just like it is in the films, how cool is that? Rey comes with Luke’s lightsaber, and the incredibly lifelike First Order Stormtrooper comes armed with a blaster.
Pixar
The Pixar series features Buzz, Woody, and Jesse. Woody comes with a removable hat and a boot accessory that’s home to a tiny snake. Jesse comes with a lasso. Buzz doesn’t come with a separate accessory, but his wings fold into his jet pack for all of his adventures on the surface of the planet.
Marvel
The Marvel series offers Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk. Thor comes with, you guessed it, his hammer. Iron Man comes with a slightly puzzling piece of plastic resembling lightning that attaches to his hand. The Hulk is doesn’t include an accessory in his packaging, probably because the figure is just too large to allow space for anything else!
Your friendly neighborhood Spider Man
With any new and popular Disney Store or Disney Parks merchandise item (and trust me these are popular, I had to wait 8 days to be able to collect all of the figures from my local store because they couldn’t keep them on the shelves!) there is always an exciting mystery. In the case of the Toybox series, the web-slinging hero from Gotham is playing hard to get. Spider-Man was one of the originally announced figures, and he is on the packaging with the rest of the Marvel series, yet he hasn’t hit the store or online shelves yet. Was there a problem with this figures manufacturing? Are they saving him for a special release, black Friday perhaps? Whatever the case, we will have to continue to play with the 9 incredible figures already released and patiently await Spider-Man’s ‘homecoming’. What do you think of the Toybox series? Do you have any guesses as to which Disney figures are still to come? When do you think Spiderman will be released? Let us know in the comments, we want to hear from you!

Well written article with great descriptions!!
December 2017: I saw the spider-man at two different Disney stores and they would not sell it. It sounds as if there is a recall, it also been removed from their web site. It *may* be because there was an orange tint to the ones I saw.
