Where to Stay Wednesday – Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort
Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort is a moderate resort that puts you right in the heart of New Orleans’s historic French Quarter! Colorful Mardi Gras characters can be found throughout the resort as well as cobblestone streets, gas lamps and the wrought-iron balconies all along the resort truly evoking the feel of New Orleans. The sound of jazz…even just in your heart…will have you feeling the magic at this resort. And just a short walk away alongside the Sassagoula River is Port Orleans Riverside where you can be surrounded by white-column mansions or backwoods cottages truly feeling like you are right there in rural Louisiana.
5 top reasons why I love this resort:
1. You like jazz?
Okay, regardless of being a big fan of jazz, you can’t help but think you are when staying here! And how amazing to be visiting Walt Disney World…and New Orleans at at the same time? Yes, this resort truly makes you feel like you are in the French Quarter and living it up!
2. The food!
This resort has some of my favorite things to eat! Gumbo, jambalaya and of course those beignets that Princess Tiana is so famous for! And just down the river you can enjoy Boatwright’s Dining Hall located at Port Orleans Riverside. Here you can enjoy dinner in what feels like a rustic shipyard warehouse and dine on N’awlins favorites!
3. Scat Cat’s Club!
This southern-style jazz lounge not only serves up appetizers and offers a full bar, but live jazz music!! This is a perfect place to settle in and relax for the evening! Or, catch a little jazz and then head over to Port Orleans Riverside to see Yehaa Bob!! The River Roost Lounge features Yehaa Bob and is a very kid friendly establishment where the entire family can enjoy comedy, music…and don’t be surprised if he has you up and moving around the room!
4. A vacation right at your resort!
There is so much to do at this resort alone! Make sure you plan in some time to enjoy all it has to offer including horse-drawn carriage rides, bike rentals, 2 or 4 person surrey bike rentals, cajun campfire activities, movies under the stars, fishing, jogging trails, playgrounds, arcades and more! You could spend your entire vacation right here in the French Quarter!
5. Pool hopping!
Yes, you heard me correctly! When you stay at French Quarter you can pool hop to Riverside! At French Quarter you will get to experience the giant sea serpent water slide, complete with King Neptune, and slide down his tongue in the Doubloon Lagoon Pool. Or, you can head over to Riverside and enjoy ‘Ol Man Island Pool with a saw mill waterslide! Pool hopping is allowed between these two resorts!
New Orleans…I mean Port Orleans…French Quarter! A magical experience is waiting for you here!
