Top 10 things to Bring on Your Caribbean/Bahamian Disney Cruise
Going on a Disney Cruise is such a magical vacation, and making sure you have everything you need, makes your cruise that much more magical!
Packing for your family can be a test in your organizational skills. Making sure everyone has everything they might need, and enough clothes, takes some planning.
When going on a cruise you do not have the luxury of stopping at a Target or Walmart if you forgot something, so you need to make sure that you absolutely have everything for you and your family to have a magical time!
Here is my Top 10 items to bring for your family on a Caribbean/Bahamian Disney Cruise!
10. Beach toys!
More than likely your cruise is stopping at beautiful beach, and your kiddos will need something to play in the fantastic sand! Grabbing a few toys and small bucket with shovel will complete your perfect beach day. Disney Cruises and stores at Castaway Cay sell some beach toys if you forget, but if you are cost conscious make sure to bring your own!
9. Pirate attire
If you cruise has Pirate night, make sure you bring some Pirate attire with you for your family. Your guest room steward will deliver a Pirate bandana for all members in your family, but most people go all out with the Pirate theme. If you have kiddos, one of my kids favorite items is a small blowup pirate sword, easy to pack and soft enough to safely swing around. Bring your stripped shirts, Pirate shirts, or anything else you want to wear to for a fun filled swash buckling time.
8. Door Decorations
All the cabin doors are metal, meaning all magnets stick to the doors. As you are walking around the ship you will see a ton of door decorations. Of course, they are Disney themed, but it can be used to show a celebration, family names, or just your families favorite characters. You can find personalized ones on Etsy or print out your own with some magnetic paper. It’s a great way for your little ones to recognize your cabin too!
With all that gorgeous weather and the sun reflecting off the water, make sure you bring some sunscreen, lots of sunscreen. Your kiddos should have high baby sunscreen, and pack some high protection sunscreen for yourself. The Caribbean or Bahamian sun can be strong, and you do not want to be bright red in your family’s pictures. Also, pack a hat for everyone on your party, make sure it is secure when you go up on the deck as the wind can be powerful.
6. Bathing suits/swim attire
Yes, if you are going on a Caribbean or Bahamian cruise this might have been your first thing to pack, but I put it on the list as you should bring multiple! Your days will be filled with playing in the water and having at least 2 suits per person will save you from wearing that cold damp bathing suit.
Also, make sure that you pack swim diapers if needed. Although you are not allowed in the pools without being potty trained, you need one for the beach when you stop and the splash areas for the little kiddos.
5. Alcohol (if wanted)
Disney Cruise lines is one of the very few cruise lines that allows you to bring on alcohol. You must be over the age of 21 years old and may bring a maximum of 2 unopened bottles of wine or Champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no large than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port. The Beverages must be packed in your carry-on.
There is a corking fee in the dining rooms of $25.00 per bottle. They can not be consumed in any public areas, but are great for a nice glass of wine on your balcony.
Every guest on a Disney ship is given a key to the world card, a room key that is also your charge card and identification. You will not need your wallet, only this card, so having a lanyard to put your card in makes it easy to find and can go around your neck, and kiddos necks when you do not have proper pockets. If this is your first Disney Cruise you will need to bring our own, if this is not your first Disney Cruise you will be given a complimentary lanyard at check-in.
3. Something for Characters to autograph
One of the best things about the Disney Cruise is all of the Characters. You will see a ton of your favorite characters, and unlike at the parks, the lines are not that long. One of the best items to bring along to sign is a white cardboard frame. Have all the characters sign the frame and when you get home you can put your favorite picture from your cruise in and have a great picture to hang on your walls!
2. Any type of Travel Mug/ Water Bottle for each person
On each ship there are 24-hour soft drink, water, and coffee/tea stations available on the pool decks. They provide paper cups with plastic tops for the Kiddos, but having a sturdy water bottle is a life saver for the kids! For the parents having a Travel mug is a must, you can be fill it with a cool beverage or some hot coffee in the morning. I promise you will be using this everyday!
If you happen to be a the Disney Parks before hand and purchased a travel mug, you can use them on the cruise, as they are the perfect size.
1.Passport/Travel documents and medications
This is a no brainer when traveling on a cruise, but the most important. Although everything on the list might be essential to your vacation, this one is the most important. You can replace, find or survive without anything else, but you will not be allowed on the cruise ship without these items. I always say as long as we have our passports and medicines needed, everything else we can find.
