Where to Stay Wednesday – Disney’s Contemporary Resort
If you are looking to stay closest to the magic…magic kingdom that is, look no further than Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort! And this iconic A-frame tower comes complete with a monorail running right through the heart of it! Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of my favorite places to stay and I will tell you why!
5 top reasons why I love this resort:
1. Fireworks!
I love this resort because you can enjoy the nighttime fireworks that are happening at Magic Kingdom right from your resort. If you have a theme park view room, you can enjoy watching them from the privacy of your own balcony. If you have a lake view room, you may enjoy watching them from the observation deck located on the fourth floor of the resort or even from the 16th floor observation deck, provided you are a guest staying at the Contemporary. But back to the theme park view room…you just can’t beat lying in bed and looking out over Magic Kingdom as you dose in and out all night. The most magical night nights you can imagine.
2. Stand clear of the closing doors please!
You will hear this often as you are boarding the monorail right from inside the resort. It is so convenient to take the monorail to the TTC and switch monorails to go to Epcot, continue on the monorail you boarded and visit Disney’s Polynesian Resort and/or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort…or stay on this monorail until you reach Magic Kingdom. If you want to go directly to Magic Kingdom from Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you can simply walk too! But don’t pass up riding on the monorail. I consider it an attraction in itself!
3. Dining with a view!
It is a celebration at the top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort when you dine at California Grill! Enjoy amazing California America cuisine as you overlook Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom park. You can enjoy the fireworks from your table as the lights dim and the music is piped right into the restaurant, or step outside to experience it all! Dining before or after the fireworks? Just bring your receipt or check-in early for your reservation and enjoy the fireworks from the lounge or the observation deck outside. There may be a celebration at the top, but there is a Wave of flavor going on at the very bottom floor of this resort. The Wave…of American Flavors is located on the lowest level of Disney’s Contemporary Resort and features not only amazing American cuisine, but one of the best lounges on property. Early to your dinner reservation? Grab a drink in The Wave Lounge and enjoy the wait!
4. Dining with characters!
I have already mentioned the fine signature dining and the unique themed dining at this resort, but you can dine with your favorite characters right at your resort as well when you stay here! Enjoy an all-you-care-to-eat buffet for breakfast, brunch or dinner right in the heart of Disney’s Contemporary Resort as you get to delight in the sounds of the monorail passing through while you eat. Favorite characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck and Goofy come directly to you while you dine for photo ops and to sign autographs! But don’t forget to look up at the amazing 90-foot-high mural that overlooks this dining location. It is not to be missed!
5. So much is happening on the water!
Boat Rides! At Disney’s Contemporary Resort you have the option to rent motorized boats and venture out on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. Specialty cruises and the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage depart form this resort as well. Or, take a free boat ride over to Fort Wilderness or Wilderness Lodge just to visit, walk around and enjoy another resort! Electric Water Pageant! If you have a lake view room you can enjoy watching this go by on the lake every evening from your very own balcony. Or, take a walk down to the water and get an amazing close up view whether your room faces the water or not! The pools! You can even enjoy the water pageant from the pool…but I was meaning to mention the pools over all! From waterslides to relaxing spas, Disney’s Contemporary has it all! You can enjoy marina views from the main pool and the 17-foot-high curving waterslide or retreat to the nearby Bay Lake Pool where the Mickey Mouse slide lights up at night and enjoy a quieter atmosphere. Both pools offer a hot tub for the ultimate relaxation. But just in case you need a little extra pampering, you can even rent a poolside cabana complete with your own flat-screen TV, iPod docking station, resort phone and mini-refrigerator!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s been around a while but like Cogsworth says, “If it’s not Baroque, don’t fix it!”
