A Preschooler’s Guide to the Best Walt Disney World Restaurants
While there is no place on Earth that caters to children all around in the way Walt Disney World does, a family with young children may want to consider these restaurants that are deemed exceptionally kid friendly. Here are the best Disney World restaurants for preschoolers!
1. Akershus
Set in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot’s World Showcase this restaurant gets you up close and personal with many of the famous Disney princesses. After meeting and taking pictures with Belle, you are escorted to your table. They offer their appetizers in buffet form the rest of your meal will be brought to you family style. Besides your children being able to meet and hug their favorite princess, the princesses hold a small royal parade where children can walk around the restaurant behind them to music while waving at “the court.” It helps burn some energy and certainly makes them feel like princesses..and princes themselves! TIP-Make an 8am breakfast reservation ensuring you’re in the park before it opens. When you’ve finished your breakfast head to Frozen Ever After right next door for a minimal wait!
2. ‘Ohana
Located in the beautiful Polynesian Village Resort, with Cinderella’s Castle as your backdrop, ‘Ohana is a delicious way to experience Disney while allowing your children a chance to move and groove during their meal. You’ll be greeted by Stitch at the door where you can take pictures with him. Lilo, Mickey and friends will make their way to your table during your meal to say hello and sign autographs. Both of their breakfast and dinner are served family style, and this is one of a handful of places in Disney World you can find the cult favorite POG juice at breakfast. Every twenty minutes or so high energy music will play and your children will have the opportunity to grab maracas and follow behind their favorite characters as they parade around the restaurant, being silly and dancing to the beat. TIP- If you’re just at the resort for a visit, plan on allowing time before or after your meal to ride the monorail around the loop. Kids just love the fun of it!
3. Coral Reef Restaurant
The restaurant is set using tiered seating with the bottom whole wall being taken up by the massive window looking into the Living Seas saltwater fish tank. With over 85 species of fish swimming by during your meal, it is sure to keep your little ones entertained as they eat. It also helps there’s a diverse, delicious menu for Mom and Dad to choose from. TIP-You can always ask the server for an order of chicken fingers and fries if their kids’ fish sticks just won’t work for your picky eaters.
4. Whispering Canyon Café
Probably the silliest and most fun your little one will have while dining at Disney, this restaurant is filled with high energy shenanigans from the moment you sit down. Servers are cheeky and sarcastic, making jokes with children and adults alike. There are hobby horse races where your children will get to run around a circle in the restaurant, laughing hysterically the entire time. Servers may ask you to stand for an impromptu Hokey Pokey or ask the entire restaurant to sit Happy Birthday to someone celebrating theirs. TIP- Make sure you ask your server for ketchup or a straw!
