5 Best Pools at Disney World Resorts for Young Kids
When you plan a Disney World Vacation this first step is where to stay, and when you have little ones you want to make sure the resort has enough to keep your smallest travelers busy. One of kids favorite things to do is go swimming! All of Disney World Resorts have pools, and are very kid friend, but a few have gone one step further and created a pool paradise for your young children to play in safely.
Here are my top 5 pools at Disney World Resorts for young kids:
5. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, French Quarter
The Doubloon Lagoon, Mardi Gras themed pool with a giant sea serpant, Scales, the 51-foot-long snaking sea serpent slide, whose tongue is a slide that splashes you into the Lagoon. Along with a water play area, this is a perfect place for children to burn off some energy.
Please note: Guests must be 48” or under to play at the Doubloon Lagoon Water Play Area.
4. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Kidani Village
The Samawati Springs Pool—located at Kidani Villag, features an exciting 128-foot waterslide and zero-depth-entry family pool. There is also a small, slower slide for little ones to use. Both slides you can catch your children at the bottom of the slides if they get scared.
The pool area also has Uwanja Camp, a water playground with different areas for kids of all ages. At Observation Station, children 4 years of age and younger can climb through cargo crates, unscramble animal images and run through a bubbling geyser and shallow pool. At Departure Zone, a leaky water tower and sneaky African irises squirt children 5 to 7 years of age. With a few slides, kids and parents alike love this area. Also at Base camp there are water cannons that your child can attempt to spray at you!
3. Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Stormalong Bay
Stormalong Bay has something for everyone, from sand, slides, and floating. First have your little one have a day at the beach at the sand-bottomed pool. They can bring their sand toys and spend hours splashing around in this sandy pool. There also is a life-sized shipwreck replica, which has one of the highest hotel slides at Walt Disney World Resort. Want a more relaxing route, than float down the lazy river on an inner tube.
Children can swim into the main pool from the gently sloping, sandy beach and cool off in the Shipwreck Pool, that also has a miniature waterslide.
2. Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Lava Pool has a zero-entry pool with a huge Volcano at the center, and an impressive waterfall coming off the top. There is a thrilling 142-foot-long waterslide, that although is very quick, you can catch your little ones at the bottom, if they are feeling adventurous! There are side ledges on the some of the sides of the pool perfect to set your children on as well.
Directly next to the Lava Pool is Kiki Tiki’s Water Play area. With tiki theming, including “huts” and natural-looking bridges, they sure will love pouring water buckets, spouting water, and spraying tiki statues. There is a kid friendly slide that ends in a very shallow (1-foot-deep) water. With a red or green light at the top you will feel confident having your little one run up and down by themselves. If there are problems, there are very friendly and helpful lifeguards to help! Kiki Tiki’s maintains the same hours as the Lava Pool, and is open to guests 48” an under.
1.Art of Animation
Art of Animation has 3 great pool areas, which makes it #1 in my books!
The Big Blue Pool is a massive 308,527-gallon pool, the largest hotel pool in all of Walt Disney World! The pool is inspired and completely decorated to the theme of “Finding Nemo”. With coral reef waterfalls, and zero entry this pool will be a hit with your family. They really thought of everything here, including adding underwater speakers that play your favorite Disney songs! Make sure to take a picture with the giant figures of Nemo, Crush and other beloved characters from the film.
For the littlest ones, Schoolyard Sprayground has pop-up jets, gushing water and more familiar faces from Finding Nemo, while Squirt’s Righteous Reef is a Nemo-themed playground perfect for kids who want to stay dry.
The Art of Animation also has 2 other pools themed to Cars and The Little Mermaid. They are more quiet and a great place to swim with your young kids or find a shade spot for a quick nap for them!
